Jermaine Paul Wins "The Voice"
After a long and winding road, Jermaine Paul was announced the victor on NBC's "The Voice" during Tuesday night's (May 8) finale episode and will walk home receiving a recording contract with Universal Republic Records and $100,000 cash.
The hit singing competition has become one of the America's highest rated television shows in which a group of four celebrity "coaches" including Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green choose contestants, then help them through the weekly singing competition for a live studio audience.
The former Alicia Keys back-up singer was overcome with emotion when announced the winner and performed his rendition of "I Believe I Can Fly." He was a member of Shelton's team and said "Thank you, man, for the opportunity and the chance," adding that Shelton had boosted his confidence and meant more to him than he'd ever know after last night's (May 7) performance. "God gave me you, bro. He gave me you."
In other news, Justin Bieber performed his hit single "Boyfriend" on the show to an audience of screaming fans.
