Box Office: "Immortals" Battles Atop "Jack and Jill"
Battling its way to the top spot in theaters, "Immortals" took charge of first place at the box office over the weekend of November 11-13, 2011.
The Tarsem Singh directed Greek warrior flick starring Henry Cavill and Freida Pinto took in a powerful $14 million on opening day and another $10.6 million on Saturday while pacing towards an expected $32 million debut weekend.
Trailing closely behind in the runner-up slot is another cinema newcomer, with the Adam Sandler and Katie Holmes fronted comedy "Jack and Jill" scoring $9 million on Friday and $10.4 million on Saturday to put it on track for a $27.5 million opening weekend take.
Rounding out the top five at the box office in estimated weekend totals were the Salma Hayek/Antonio Banderas fronted animated film "Puss In Boots" ($27 million), followed by "Tower Heist" ($14 million) and the Clint Eastwood directed/Leonardo DiCaprio starring drama "J. Edgar" ($13 million).
